Newcastle 10k

September 13 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

“Conquer Black Bank” – this race is famous for one specific feature, Black Bank. It is a true “race of two halves” that tests your grit in the first 5km and your speed in the second.

The first few kilometers wind through Knutton before hitting the long, steady climb of Black Bank. This section is a significant test of fitness, and there is often a “race within a race” with a cash prize for the first male and female to reach the summit.

Once you crest the hill, the course rewards you with a long, sweeping descent toward Silverdale.

The final stretch follows the old railway line (the same path used by the Wammy Parkrun), providing a flat, fast sprint to the finish line.

The 10k version of this race is relatively new (celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2025), but its predecessor, the Newcastle 7, ran for over 40 years. It is considered one of the most established and well-organised club races in the region.

Race 16 on the NSRRA fixtures list.
